Maintain reading skills at level E

Task Instructions:

In green folders, there are 3 “E” books with vocabulary, reading skill and  comprehension questions to discuss, as well as a 1st grade Quick Check packet

Also to take home is their yellow Writing Books.  These are for after they have read a book on their level….summary and illustration to show comprehension of text.

  • Continue to LOG ANY books read onto reading log - every 10 books read gets a prize!

 

  • FOR EACH BOOK 
  1. Read and review vocabulary words in inside cover
  2. Review phonics strategy for book - “this book will have lots of short o, short i and short e words”
  3. Book can be read aloud with assistance, then read independently.
  4. In Yellow writing books, students will write a sentence and illustrate the book they read. Use comprehension check on last page of book to activate knowledge of text, then write and illustrate in yellow writing books.
  5. Literacy Activities are optional but very fun

  1. Complete ONE page daily INDEPENDENTLY. Please return for teacher grading
