Dan St. Romain Behavior Lessons:

In class Juan Pablo teaches us how to be a kind and caring friend. Below are some of the phrases we us in class to help us learn to make good choices.

The phrases we use in class are in parentheses.

Please ask you child about these and reinforce them at home too.

1. Following Directions   ( I follow directions right away)

2. Handling Disappointment ( We get what we need, not always what we want)

3. Respect personal space   ( I have my space you have your space)

4. Getting a grown-ups attention appropriately (When I want the teacher's attention, I raise my hand)

Our Curriculum this month:

Reading :  We are continuing our unit on Nonfiction Stories. We are learning features of nonfiction books. We are practicing good habits of independent readers. 

In Wilson fundations we will be tapping  out 3 letter words and writing sentences using sight words and decodable words.   We are learning long vowel sounds.

Writer's Workshop :  We are working on  persuasive writing. We are writing about things we like and explain reasons why. We will write a letter about something we want to change and why. 

Math:  We are working on our unit in Ready Classroom on : Addition and Subtraction Facts to 10.

St. Patrick's Day, rainbows, spring and life science: living and nonliving things

        Wear blue clothing.

 

Tuesday:  “Put Your Best Foot Forward”: Dress for the occasion and wear your

                     best outfit for the day.

 

Wednesday: "Stand & WALK Together Against Bullying":  Wear school colored

                               clothing – blue & yellow

                      **Join the AHES TRAIN – In recognition of National Walk to School Day we will be creating a walking train down First Avenue from the Harbor Playground to school.  The train will leave the “harbor station” at 8:00 am sharp.  We are happy to pick up passengers along the way on the school side (East side) of First Avenue.  Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for the walk. Students coming from the west side of First Avenue will need to be crossed over by parents using the crosswalks, or at the corner of First Avenue and East Washington by the crossing guard.

 

Thursday:  "Team up and Stay Safe":  Wear a team jersey or t-shirt

 

Friday:  “Hats off to you for showing respect to yourself and others!”:   Wear

                   your favorite hat to school
